"This is my first attempt at natural fruit licorice. I really enjoyed it! And I will keep experimenting to perfect the recipe!" Liana
Total time: Oven 5 hours 10 mins/ or dehydrator 12 hours 10 mins
Makes: 4 licorice pieces
6 pears (you can also use apples, peaches, nectarines)
You can add a few drops of aniseed oil to give it more of a 'licorice' flavor
1. Remove the core including seeds from the pears.
2. Blend pears in food processor or vitamix until purée.
3. Place on baking sheet in dehydrator at 110f for 12 hours. Or place on baking paper on baking sheet in oven at 170f for 5 hours, or until not wetness but still moist enough to roll. You don't want it too dry.
4. It is how you roll it up that makes it like licorice. Cut the sheet of fruit roll up into 4 pieces, and then roll each of those pieces up as tight as you can so the licorice is thick. Now it is ready to eat and enjoy!
