Fry the chickpeas and then add your choice of seasonings!
This is great snack food, or party food for entertaining! Cooked in coconut for a buttery flavor, topped with seasons of your choice to make Lemon Pepper, Salt and Pepper or BBQ. This meal is high in protein and often referred to as brain food.
Total time: 10 minutes
2 tablespoons extra virgin coconut oil
2 cans of chickpeas (organic BPA free)
OR for a more whole approach: use chickpeas beans that you have soaked overnight, cooked and cooled.
Pick the seasoning:
BBQ: 1/2 teaspoon paprika and a dash of cayenne pepper (or 1/8 if you can handle it)
Lemon Pepper: The juice of one lemon and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Salt and Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon real salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Or just simply salt them! I like to put cumin on mine (1 teaspoon of power or seeds!)
1. Heat a fry pan with the oil on medium heat. When hot add the chickpeas.
After a minute add your seasonings. "In the photo above I have 3 bowls of different favor: First is Cumin and Salt Chickpea Fries, Second is paprika and cayenne pepper, Third bowl is lemon."
2. Cook for another 5 minutes with your seasonings or until crispy n the outside and soft inside - or to your desire!
3. Remove and serve!
1. If you want to make actual typical fries shape with the chickpeas, do this: Blend the chickpeas in a blender like the Vitamix, until completely smooth consistency that can stick together like batter. Once you have that you can mold into fries, and either pan fry or bake in the oven. This process will take an additional 15 minutes to the recipe.

Additional note about the recipe: "Some say this recipe is more like a "Chickpea Popcorn". I titled it fries because people say it's their new fries."
