Hi guys!

It’s Vitacost’s 25th birthday! How awesome is that? Vitacost has helped me and many others save thousands of dollars on organic foods and products.

Why? Because they offer online prices rather than retail prices on all of our favorite organic products and foods.

Before online shopping was a thing, Vitacost started as a mail-order catalog for only vitamins and supplements at that time. The website didn’t launch until 1999, and that’s when the Vitacost brand supplements launched, too!

To celebrate, I am sharing my Top 25 picks from Vitacost.com and why they are my kitchen essentials. Basically, I always have these at my home, they have helped me to maintain my health and experience optimum energy every day. These foods also help give us peace of mind that we are doing all we can to take care of our health.

You can get an extra 10% off these by using code: earthdiet at checkout (every-time).

1 Explore Cuisine Risoni – the “New Rice”

Why #1? Have you been looking for a delicious and healthy alternative to rice? I have for years! And finally found it! Very excited about this “new rice” you guys! It’s made by our favorite gluten-free pasta company Explore Cuisine, so they’ve done it yet again by adding another ridiculously tasty and nutrient-rich sku to the variety of pasta. The Risoni is made with chickpeas or red lentil, and it’s in the shape of rice. It cooks for 7-9 minutes, and we can use it just like we would rice, as a side, with curry, in a salad, make a risotto. It’s way fewer carbs than rice, plus it’s not a grain! And had more protein. A great way to get some hearty non-GMO plant-based protein into our diets.

This isn’t actually out on Vitacost yet! It’s coming soon in a few weeks.

2 Sunbutter – Sunflower Seed Butter

Why? It’s a smooth tasty seed butter made with roasted sunflower seeds! Sunflower seed butter is actually healthier in regards to nutrition than almond butter and peanut butter. It has the same amount of protein as them, but more Vitamin E, iron and magnesium, plus less saturated fat. Don’t get me wrong I love peanut butter too, but Sunbutter is far more nutritionally superior so it makes sense to incorporate it more.

Sunbutter is also great for people with nut allergies, so they have a tasty alternative and aren’t missing out on a delicious buttery spread.

Use it as a quick spoonful snack to satisfy the brain or in recipes like a No-Bake Chocolate Brownie, or Thai Sauce for Noodles or pizza. It also makes a great SB&J (Sunbutter and Jelly). It’s become a household staple for me!

But not just any chocolate, it’s made with cacao powder, cacao butter, and coconut sugar. No dairy, soy lecithin or refined white sugar. Plus no weird shiny glaze that we find on majority chocolate covered things. So does that mean this chocolate is actually good for us? Yes! Chocolate is a functional food when it’s made like this, so go ahead and enjoy these without any guilt. The crunch of the cashews with the chocolate combo is a melt in your mouth situation!
