Self-healing is a phrase applied to the body’s natural process of recovery. It means that the methods used to promote physical healing were tailored to the unique experience and requirements of the individual. Self-healing is achieved through mechanisms such as natural foods, natural treatments (baths and massages, for example), relaxation, love, self-empowerment, self-motivation, and positive thinking.

Hippocrates, one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine, said, “Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.” Did you know that every person who becomes a doctor in the United States signs an oath written in antiquity by Hippocrates, stating this? More and more people are realizing there is more to getting well than what pharmaceutical drugs can do.

We all have what it takes to self-heal our own bodies. If we really want to get well, we always find ways to be well! The healing process starts with you, and it happens one step at a time.

If you are someone with a serious health condition, someone who wants to break an addiction or a destructive habit, or a pharmaceutical medication user, you may expect resistance from both your body and your mind when you begin shifting your diet and lifestyle. Stick with your plan. These types of detox symptoms will subside as soon as you are less toxic. Your body and mind both will adjust. The more confident you become in your own ability to heal, the more deliberately you’ll be able to choose how you think and feel. Also the healthier you become, the happier you will be and the easier life will seem.

Although there may be an element of you that is challenged by the prospect of letting go and living a new, healthier life, you can trust that this detox period will pass.

CAUTION: If you are taking prescription drugs, seek assistance from a qualified healthcare professional to guide you in tapering off them in an appropriate manner that does not cause you undue discomfort or put you in any kind of danger. You don’t want to create new health problems for yourself while you are consciously engaged in making health improvements.

Your body is indicating that it needs healing if:

  1. You feel tired and weak.
  2. You feel bad or down the majority of the time.
  3. You are in physical pain.
  4. Your digestive system is not working (ex: you are excreting less than once per day).
  5. You are bloated.
  6. You have acne, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, or other skin issues.
  7. You are losing your hair.
  8. Your eyesight and hearing is weak.
  9. You are thinking a majority of negative thoughts and feel depressed.
  10. You are carrying excess weight.
