How to Manage Detox Symptoms

When we start eating healthy, and especially juicing, it’s common to experience mild detox symptoms. This can leave us feeling unwell, drunk, agitated, and itchy. How do we manage detox symptoms?

There are a few ways, but the main goal is to manage detox symptoms by facilitating the body in getting toxins out and nutrition in. Juicing helps. Gentle exercise during the first few days or weeks of making a change is helpful. Walking is highly recommended.

What also helps is sweating in a sauna or steam room, or in a warm/hot bath. Taking baths is very beneficial. Here are a few recipes for bathing.

Detox Bath: Fill your bathtub with hot water, as hot as you can handle without being scalded. Add 2 cups of Epsom salts. Soak in the bath for at least 10 minutes. This will help flush out toxins.

Relaxation Bath: Fill your bathtub with warm to hot water. Add 1 cup Himalayan salt and 1 cup fresh lavender flowers (or 1 teaspoon of lavender essential oil). Stay in the bath for 25 minutes. Practice affirmations and positive thinking while you soak.

Clear skin bath: Fill your bathtub with warm to hot water. Add 1 cup bentonite clay and stir around until the entire bath is cloudy. Soak for 30 minutes.
