Still recovering from the holidays? The Top 4 Ways to Reset & Restore: Supporting Digestion and Mineral Balance
Feb 02, 2026
By Liana Werner-Gray
Quick recap of this reset:
- Add a pinch of mineral salt to your water for electrolyte balance
- Drink one green juice or liquid chlorophyll daily
- Drink bentonite clay to purify your gut (toxin binder), boost your energy and help with digestion
- My weekly exercise and movement routine
The holidays are a beautiful time for connection, celebration, and often a little indulgence. But they can also be a stressful time of year and it’s common to come out of the season feeling a bit depleted, sluggish, or out of rhythm.
For my work with my clients, the new year isn’t about extremes or pressure. It’s about gently coming back into balance—reconnecting with the body, calming the nervous system, and creating sustainable rhythms that actually support healing. Simple, nourishing habits that support digestion, hydration, and energy at a foundational level. A true reset is really about listening to your body, replenishing what’s been used up, and creating small daily rituals that help you feel grounded and supported.
Why Resetting After the Holidays Matters
Between travel, late nights, rich foods, refined sugar, and stress, our bodies can burn through minerals and digestive support more quickly than we realize. When minerals are low, it can show up as fatigue, bloating, sluggish digestion, cravings, or that general “off” feeling.
Think of minerals as the spark plugs of the body — they help everything run smoothly. When we restore minerals and hydration, digestion, energy, and overall balance often naturally improve.
How To Gently Reset & Restore
Rather than doing anything extreme, focus on simple routines that feel realistic and sustainable. These are some of the practices I encourage my clients to come back to after the holidays to help my body reset:
Morning Ritual: Hydration + Minerals
I love starting my day with warm lemon water to gently wake up digestion. I’ll often add a small pinch of Redmond Real Salt for 60 plus minerals — especially if I’ve been traveling, sweating, or feeling run down. It’s a simple way to support hydration and replenish trace minerals first thing in the morning. That small habit alone can make a big difference in how my digestion and energy feel throughout the day.
Alternatively, on days when I want something pre-mixed or I’m on the go, you could check out Redmonds Re-Lyte electrolytes.
Redmond Real Salt contains more than 60 trace minerals naturally occurring from an ancient seabed in Utah. While sodium chloride does the basic job of fluid balance, those trace minerals are what make real salt supportive rather than harsh.
Here’s why those minerals matter and how they help:
The minerals in Redmond salt—such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, zinc, iron, manganese, and trace electrolytes—support nerve signaling, muscle relaxation, hydration, and cellular communication. Magnesium helps calm the nervous system and supports muscle and tissue relaxation (which is why mineral salt can feel soothing), potassium helps balance fluids and supports proper cellular hydration, and calcium supports tissue integrity and signaling. Trace minerals like zinc and iron play roles in immune defense and tissue repair, while the full mineral matrix helps the body better absorb and utilize sodium instead of stressing the system the way refined salt can.
Because the minerals are present in natural ratios, they help maintain electrolyte balance, support adrenal and nervous system health, and reduce irritation to tissues—whether used internally or topically (like salt swishing). This is why mineral-rich salt tends to feel more grounding and supportive, rather than dehydrating or inflammatory like highly refined salt.
Pro tip if you have a sore throat:
Swishing mineral-rich real salt in the mouth helps reduce harmful mouth bacteria and soothe a sore throat because salt creates a hypertonic environment that draws excess fluid, toxins, and microbes out of inflamed tissues through osmosis. This reduces swelling, calms irritation, and makes it harder for bacteria to survive. Real salt (like Celtic or Himalayan) also contains trace minerals that support oral tissue health and saliva balance, helping restore a healthier mouth microbiome. When you swish or gargle, it mechanically loosens bacteria, mucus, and debris while stimulating saliva flow, which is the body’s natural antibacterial defense—bringing relief to both the mouth and throat in a gentle, non-disruptive way. Just add 1 teaspoon of real salt into a cup of warm water and swish and gargle, and then discard. Repeat. Finish with a teaspoon of manuka honey and let it sit under your tongue for 30 seconds.
Green Juice (or Liquid Chlorophyll)
Green juice is one of my non-negotiables when I’m able to make it. It’s one of the easiest ways to flood the body with living, alkalizing nutrients and support the body at a cellular level.
This is one of the reasons I love starting my day with a green juice. And on days when I’m not able to juice, I’ll use liquid chlorophyll instead (Earth Harmony is the brand I recommend) — it’s a simple way to keep my body supported at a cellular level.
Both options help me feel lighter, clearer, and more energized, especially after periods of heavier eating or stress.
My Go-To Green Juice Recipe
(Makes approximately 4 juices)
• 3 bunches of celery
• 3 cucumbers
• 4 lemons
• 4 thumb-sized pieces of ginger
• Optional: Broccoli sprouts (if you have them)
• Optional: Add an apple or orange if you’d like it sweeter
This juice is incredibly refreshing, supportive for digestion, and a beautiful way to reset after the holidays.

Drink Bentonite Clay
Along with mineral-rich salt, taking bentonite clay can further support purification and digestion because it acts like a natural binder in the body. Bentonite clay carries a negative electrical charge that attracts and binds positively charged toxins, heavy metals, pathogens, and metabolic waste in the digestive tract, helping escort them out of the body rather than allowing them to be reabsorbed. This can reduce toxic burden, ease digestive irritation, and support gut lining integrity. By calming inflammation in the gut and absorbing excess acids and gases, bentonite clay may help with bloating, indigestion, and sluggish digestion, while giving the liver and detox pathways a break. When used properly and hydrated well, it works synergistically with mineral salts—one helping remove what doesn’t belong, the other replenishing essential minerals and restoring balance. I drink food grade bentonite clay by Redmond Clay. Mix 1 teaspoon of clay with 1 cup of water, do not use a metal spoon because it will weaken its magnetic charge. I like to add clay and water to a jar and then shake it up and drink throughout the day. You don’t have to drink the sediment at the bottom as not all the clay will dissolve into the water.
Gentle Movement + Fresh Air
Movement doesn’t have to be intense to be effective. I love incorporating light exercise, stretching, or going for walks — even 20–30 minutes makes a difference. Walking outside, listening to music or a favorite podcast, and getting fresh air is one of the most nourishing things you can do for both your body and nervous system. My consistent workout schedule looks like 30 minute strength training 3 times per week, one cardio running for 3 miles and plenty of walking each day aiming for 8-10,000 steps. I also love pilates when I can fit that in too.
It supports circulation, digestion, and helps gently bring your body back into rhythm.
Simple, Nourishing Meals
During a reset, keep meals simple, clean, and grounding. Think whole foods, easy-to-digest options, and foods that feel truly nourishing rather than heavy.
This might look like:
• Simple protein with vegetables
• Soups or none broths
• Fresh juices and smoothies
• Easy Earth Diet–aligned meals that don’t overcomplicate things. Check out the recipe section.
The goal isn’t perfection — it’s consistency and listening to what your body actually needs.
Resetting Without Pressure
A reset doesn’t have to be rigid or overwhelming. It’s about coming back to basics: hydration, minerals, green juice, simple meals, gentle movement, and listening to your body.
Even a few of these habits can make a noticeable difference in how you feel — helping you move into the new season feeling clearer, lighter, and more supported from the inside out. Even if you just did one of these resets you would feel better the same day. That’s the coolest thing with putting something healthy and nourishing into your body, it’s immediate, your body responds to it immediately. You can feel a boost and feel better at the next thing you consume.
